I bought a second hand violin, and even though it came with everything needed, it was not new. Especially, the bow was somewhat worn, having less than all of its hairs left, and it was also a quite heavy model. The good reviews for various bows here on Thomann's website made me understand that a new one could be in any price class and yet, be good.
Deciding on exactly this one was a bit of a bet, but the low price meant that I could try again if not happy. But I am happy. It works many times better than the old one, and it brings me a clear and bright tone from a much lighter bow, which is more pleasant to use.
It's a no-brainer, really – if you are in a situation like me, just try it, it can hardly go wrong. Don't stick with an old, bad bow. Life is too short for that.
I should add that my skill level is "absolute beginner", so perhaps a more experienced violin player can add more nuances, but I am perfectly happy with it.
