Yamaha CG182SF
flamencoboy 12.02.2020
First of all, this is a flamenco guitar and is NOT a classical guitar as stated on the Thomann website, I am sure this is a misstake by thomann staff and that it will be corrected shortly, since it is listed under classical guitars and not flamenco's, this model is an improved version over the early CG172SF flamenco guitar which was already very good, I bought this guitar to learn flamenco style guitar, after reading a lot of reviews of spannish makers and some cordoba guitars, I found a thin red line going through almost all of them, which was of poor quality control, this is what made me buy this guitar instead, because Yamaha is known for good quality in their products, and that proved to be a good choise, I am very happy with my purchase of this guitar and I'm sure it will last many years if I take good care of it, flamenco guitars have all very thin woods to make the nice flamenco tones and to be light in weight, so I also bought a hard case to protect it, unfortunately thomann did not send the guitar inside the case as I asked them to, they responded there is to much hassle for them to do so for guitars that don't come with a case, since I guess they have to do more work in packaging, but thats ok and understandable but I hope that could change in the future, the guitar was very well packaged in double cardboard boxes, and arrived to me after only 3 days from Germany, good job thomann! this guitar is light as a feather, and as I wrote a flamenco guitar, not a classical, the action was already low as it should on a flamenco, but I will take it down further and also mount bone saddle and nut, that will make this guitar more than good, as it is the only thing missing, it has a solid spuce top which is very important! and laminated back and sides was also important to me since I live in a cold climate, I expect zero maintenance on this guitar, laminated sides makes a guitar very sturdy and makes it less prone to shift in it's woods, I was suppriced about the sound, it certanly gives me the famous flamenco sound and also a good bass which is rare in flamenco guitars, and I love that, in other words, sound is very good, bright with a lot of punch and cut through and also a lovely bass which do not take away any of the brightness, you can do some really nice mellow sounds as well depending where you play on the neck, I find the sound truly versatile, you probably could play some classical tunes on it to because of that, but just let me state that this do not take away anything from the flamenco sound, the sound of this guitar is incredibly good for flamenco, tuners are gold with kind of marble looking knobs, very classy look and they seems to hold the tuning good, the overall build quality is very good, after inspection I did not find any flaws, the fret ends are not sharp but they could need some dressing, just to make them great, frets are good though, I will take care of that later with a small fret file, easy to do. the guitar has a matt finnish on the body and on the neck to, I don't mind this, and I especially love that especially on the neck, it looks like its a already played in guitar, and it's not sticky to the fingers back of the neck when you play. I recommend this guitar for people wanting to learn flamenco and even intermediate players, the sound is that good, just know that you have to be more careful with a flamenco guitar than a classical since the woods are so thin, that makes them easy to ding and make ugly marks, so if you get a flamenco guitar, you need also get a hard case to protect it.

Round the house guitar
langball 03.07.2020
I have been playing classical as a hobby for 20+ years. I got this as a 'round the house' guitar, for practice and doodling. Unlike the concert guitar, this lives on the stand for whenever moments. It's a brilliant piece of kit and, as far as I am concerned, a real fun instrument to play. Stick a capo on it and, wow, so much bounce. Totally recommend for beginners as the action is low. Very much recommended for those who practice for an hour or two daily as the low action will help build hand muscles quickly, reduce fatigue and allow you to practice for that little bit longer. AND it looks great as a piece of furniture!
No real cons given the price. It is not a concert instrument, but could be used for a pub/coffee shop or weddings - if you are more of a strummer type. As a flamenco, well.... its well made and will take a beating. I imagine given the solid price top that this instrument all develop a bit of personality as it ages. Totally recommend this guitar.

Beautifully set up, BUT THE SOUND IS NOT FLAMENCO
alain halimi 30.03.2023
In time I am sure that the sound will open but I am afraid the sound wasn't this bright resonance I was hoping to get.
I was sad to send it back to Thomann, it was a very easy and balanced harmonically, a guitar easy to play on and very enjoyable. the string that come with it are to be changed very quickly, they are of poor quality.
The varnish is mat which helps with sound but I can imagine the guitar easily marking. Mine arrived with a minor mark. Didn't affect my pleasure or the sound.
I would recommend it for an all rounder, not a flamenco specific.
Still a great guitar

Amazing piece of equipment for such low price
OzgurY 19.06.2020
I have been playing guitar for almost 16 years now, many different styles in fact ranging from death metal to blues, even classical at some point. I have recently developed an interest into flamenco and was looking for a beginners guitar, for a while I was between the Cordoba F7 and Yamaha CG182SF. As I already own three other Yamaha's I have chosen Yamaha again as expected and what a fantastic choice this was. This guitar absolutely amazing and great fun to play. The action is a little bit high for my taste but it's not too difficult to sand down the saddle a little bit. If you're looking for a beginners flamenco guitar, I would definitely recommend this one.
