Ehlert recorders have a range of 2 1/2 octaves. The c#4 (S), f#3 (A) and c#3 (T) can be played without the annoying covering of the sound hole. Disappointed in the sound

This is a fine recorder, except the sound is rather harsh, even after playing it in. I assume this is due to the boxwood material, or maybe the design of the head joint. If considering a modern soprano recorder, I would recommend the Mollenhauer modern soprano, which is one of my favorite recorders. It sounds great and is easy to play.
I like the design of the keys on the Moeck, and it is fairly easy to play, but the sound is not to my liking.
