A worthy upgrade!

I got tired of the "meh" sound of the Rockwell pickups in my Harley Benton 25th SC. The play-ability and construction is excellent, but the pickups leave a bit to be desired. I decided to go for these since they have glowing reviews, good output and are also in zebra color.

It was the first time I soldered pickups, but I got it together after a few hours and worked first try. Coil-split also works without any issues. Just make sure the follow the wiring diagram on the Boot Camp website. A couple of wires had the colors switched compared to the preinstalled pickups.

The sound then? I can't think of a better sound to be honest. Very clear and articulate. Not a smidge of mud even on the neck pickup. Output is a bit hotter than classic '57s, but cleans up nicely and I prefer the sound of these a lot more. I highly recommend these True Grit pickups! Considering the sound difference they are great value as well!

Good pickups from Bare Knuckle!

Bought and installed this set of pickups on my PRS 594 SE as I didn't like the stock ones.
So far I like these alot. I would describe this set as a modern version of classic 57 Zebras, as they offer higher output and feature 4-conductor wiring (which allows one to coil split). These upgrades in my opinion makes these pickups pretty versatile.
Installment was easy thanks to wiring diagrams available on the Bare Knuckle website.
For the price of around €250 (the price as of writing), I would say it's a good deal.
So all in all, if you ever need/want new pickups, try these!

Fantastic looking and sounding Pickups

A guitar I was modding to look a bit more rock n roll from Burny was the right colour and finish but needed new pickups……cue this set. Well rounded sound, clear and loud with excellent dynamics. Well built also. They sound greet for hard rock, heavy metal and 80s rock music. A good alternative to some of the signature sets out there at present.

True Grit = echter Gamechanger

Ich hab die Bare Knuckle True Grits in meine '94er Les Paul Studio eingebaut und spiele sie über einen EVH 5150 – ausschließlich Punkrock. Vorher hatte ich DiMarzios drin, aber die können da nicht mithalten. Die True Grits liefern genau den Sound, den ich gesucht hab: durchsetzungsfähig, fett und klar, ohne jemals nervig oder matschig zu werden. Der Ton reagiert unglaublich direkt auf den Anschlag – da versteht man wirklich, was „Der Ton kommt aus den Fingern“ bedeutet.

Gerade bei schnellen Riffs und aggressiven Akkorden bleiben sie sauber und präsent, ohne Kompression oder Verlust an Charakter. Und für das, was man klanglich geboten bekommt, ist der Preis absolut fair. Wer ehrlichen, druckvollen Punkrock-Sound sucht, wird hier mehr als fündig.
