They really work!

MINXON 10.10.2022

From the manufacturers website:

"IMPORTANT: Prior to installation, confirm that the nuts in the lug casings on your drums are free of any grease or oil prior to installing TightScrews. Lubricants will deteriorate the polymer inserts in TightScrews and reduce the friction necessary to keep them from backing out. If necessary, clean the female threads on your drum with a Q-Tip or similar item, dipped in an appropriate degreasing agent. Twist the swab in and out of the threads like a screw. Degreasing the threads will insure maximum life and holding power of your TightScrews and will not harm the threads on your drum."

I did not clean my lug casings because I was unaware of this information, however they still work wonderfully. I have no clue why this info wasn't included on the packaging. Would be nice with more options for the bassdrum, the only model available is too short for my bassdrum.

they work fine

Alessandro Spenga 04.11.2024

if you own a Ludwig snare drum you know how easily they de-tune. I use these on a supraphonic (lm402) and they work just fine. of course, you will feel more tension on your drum key, so this makes it impossible to use somethinf like an evans torque key. overall, i think if you have a snare drum that de tunes easily, this one can help you solve the problem. but i'd probably prefer the tama lug locks.

Impressive

Works well and really keeps the head from detuning. I used to adjust the tuning after 10 practice sessions or so, but I haven't had to do that since I got these screws for a couple of months now,
The only downside is that if you like to finger-tighten the bolts, up to a certain degree in order to have a uniform and even starting point, this is no longer possible. But honestly, this is a small price to pay.
It remains to be seen if they lose their effectiveness over time.
