These were listed as circumaural/over ear. If you have really tiny ears you might be able to squeeze them in but I would consider them "on ear".
The feel of them is a bit "cheap" but then they ARE cheap, so...
The sound is okay for the price I guess but I would describe them as a bit muffled and heavy on the middle range which makes voices sound a bit nasal.
I think there are better choices for pure sound quality for about the same price, like the Superlux HD-681 for example, if you don't have to have closed back headphones.
