Weighted piano-action keyboard that doesn't need a room the size of a dining hall!
Fuze_DnB 11.08.2025
I bought this, looking for a smaller hammer-action, weighted keyboard than the M-Audio 88-key it replaced which was quite good but bulky and light on features. I've lost an octave - but for producer use, this isn't noticed at all. And unexpectedly, the key action is better. Along with a smaller footprint, the controls are basic but functional - and build quality is good. Plus it has its own sound output which is great if you want to use with a DJ set-up / live gig.

Highly recommended.

Sweet spot for gigging musicians with simple laptop setups.
DL1971 21.03.2026
A 73-note hammer like action MIDI controller is a sweet spot for gigging musicians - and the SL73 mk2 is remarkably light for such a type of keyboard. Mine does fit into a 61-note keyboard case (since the pitch and modulation levers are placed on top, not on the side of the keyboard).

The keyboard seems to be designed for a scenario where the keyboard is communicating and powered to a laptop/computer since there is only one USB slot (that handles both power, MIDI communication and reverse audio routed from computer to the SL73s audio outputs). An extra USB slot would have been nice for DAW-less setups (but since the SL73 mk2 has MIDI DIN ins and outs, its still workable for DAW-less setups).

Since the SL73 mk2 acts as a soundcard (2 channel in/out) - it is very practical for simple setups - but less ideal for setups requiring multi-out routing, click tracks and sequencers.

The FATAR keybed is responsive, dynamic (and programmable per key) - but for some, these new FATAR keybeds may feel heavier than most real pianos - so opinions regarding the key action might be subjective.

If you like it loud.

They couldn't bother to dampen the noise of the action at all, terrible sound.
