Sequential Take 5

What got my eye on this machine was to get a poly that has a modified prophet 5 rev-4 filter and that gives lots of modulation matrix. You won't be dissapointed if you like the prophet sound and love to create your own patches that needs much modulation. But keep in mind that this machine is not as analogue behaving as the prophet 6 or for example a prophet 5 in the big picture. But on the other hand the advantages are instead you get a much easier synth for modern production which was what I needed. This synth begins to open up very cool sonic territory when you start to play with the modulation matrix and imagen how many sounds you can make with this machine for that reasonable price! Even If I have synths that are in a way higher price range I can guarantee that this is definently one machine that is still worth owning in the collection. The big plus is that you can work crazy fast with creating your own patches and the modulation matrix is so nice! The sound is very pleasent and the filter that is 24db can create many usefull sounds in the music. The synth do not overtake your mix and is very kind to use in the project. The formfactor is just perfect to have on a desktop, the machine is very fun if you are into sound design and an advice is to get the soundtower editor if you want to manage your patches easy or reach some "hidden parameters" more easily. If there is something negative I would point out would only be two things first one is that the encoders for select and value makes your hand cover the view of the display but its ok and the last thing which could be fixed with firmware update in future if we are lucky is that delay time is not shown in value when dialing in, or perhaps there is a way to display it that I have not yet figured out? Over all I am more than happy that I got this synth and this machine.

Ich hatte bisher nur mit Software-Synthesizer herumgespielt und wollte mal einen haben, der mehr Hands-On ist. Also anmachen und loslegen.
Zudem fand ich diesen geisterhaften weichen Synth-Sound, den man in Thom Yorke's "Anima" gut heraushört, sehr schön und stellte nach etwas Recherche fest, dass dieser von Prophet stammt.
Dennoch hatte ich mir einige Synthies angeschaut und in der engeren Auswahl standen der Korg Minilogue, der Hydrasynth und dieser.
Gegen den Korg Minilogue hatte ich mich dann entschieden weil dieser nur 1 LFO hat und mir der Sound nicht so ganz gefällt.
Der Hydrasynth ist eigentlich ein toll durchdachter Synth, wo der Sound wahrscheinlich auch für mich gepasst hätte. Jedoch ist der nicht so ganz WYSIWYG und eigentlich möchte ich Chinas Wirtschaft möglichst nicht unterstützen.

Im Grunde hat der Take 5 all das was ich mir von einem guten Synth wünsche. Schöner warmer Sound, weitestgehend WYSIWYG, 5 Stimmen (für mich völlig ausreichend), 2 LFO's und viele Modulationsmöglichkeiten.

Es gibt ein paar Dinge, die man wahrscheinlich relativ einfach hätte verbessern können. Bis auf die LFO-Amounts sieht man bspw. nicht die Parameter-Werte auf dem Display.
Es ist m.E. auch nicht ganz so einfach herausfinden welche Parameter bei einem Preset eingestellt sind. Mir ist aufgefallen, dass im Bank-Display ein kleiner Punkt aufblinkt, wenn man den voreingestellten Wert eines Parameters erreicht. Finde ich, insbesondere beim Cutoff, etwas fummelig und muss man auch erst wissen. Steht meine ich nicht in der Anleitung.
Die Anleitung ist generell verbesserungswürdig und könnte auch weiter auf die Modulationsquellen eingehen, die ebenso kaum dokumentiert sind.
Der Step Sequenzer kommt ein bisschen ärmlich daher. Eine nachträgliche Bearbeitung der Sequenz ist so viel ich weiß nicht möglich.

Fazit:
Der Fokus wurde für mich eindeutig auf die wichtigen Dinge, wie eben den Sound und die Modulation gelegt. Nicht so wichtige Features kommen m.E. etwas lieblos daher, aber sollten sich im Nachhinein mit Software ergänzen lassen. Die Bedienung könnte an manchen Stellen etwas besser sein.
Der Take 5 ist ziemlich sicher nicht so überladen mit Features wie der Hydrasynth. Nach 2 Tagen hatte ich eigentlich schon einen recht guten Überblick darüber, was alles möglich ist.
Beim Hydrasynth hatte ich, ähnlich wie bei Software-Synthies, die Befürchtung, dass ich mich mit vielen, weniger wichtigen Features, herumschlage und ich mich am Ende schwer tuen würde, irgendwas sinnvolles herauszubekommen.
Den Eindruck habe ich beim Take 5 nicht und es macht eigentlich sehr viel Spaß, weil alles gleich recht toll klingt. Also klare Empfehlung.
