Sennheiser MD 421-II

Works on snare, toms, bassdrum, guitar and bass amps and connect you with the music history. Very solid and reliable. I must confess that the first time I used it I thought it was faulty because I didnt understand that I had to point it at the source...well, we learn, dont we.

I was't 100% convinced when I order it since I already use SM57, Big Head (but also others) when recording from guitar amp. But this mic I right away fall in love with. It is used for both electric and acoustic guitars. Even if it is a bit pricey a save a lot of time to get good records so it is definitely worth every penny. Cheers !

I?ve only used it for a couple of hours in the home studio, but I?m stunned by how easy it is to get a good sound with guitars/amps.

Pros: The sound and build quality I?ve come to expect from the classic german microphone manufacturers.

Cons: None really - so far, I?ve heard and read complaints about the clamp, time will tell if they?re right.
Maybe a beginner could have wished for more documentation/tips.
