Rean NYS SPP-L1

For the price i?ve been very satisfied with this, so much i?m getting a few more! This was my first PB and it does the job without making a fuss.

Bought one a year back to keep stuff organized in a permanent but flexible way in our soon to be permanent production-rig, anybody can just plug their sources in easily and their stuff goes where i want it. Worth every penny.
No loose springs or slippy contacts so far, but i do exercise them once every few months just in case.

My reason for giving 3 stars on handling is this:
The fitting of the element-boards OTB was pretty hamfisted but it?s only two screws and a little patience to make them all sit as they should, i recommend taking the time to check if the front chassis is bulging when you get yours. No soldering or intrusive stuff, just a little fidgeting.

Quality-wise it?s a pretty safe expense since if a few elements start to fail you can get replacement units. I have not had to replace anything yet though.

I use this patchbay in a very simple studio setup with not too much outboard gear but it makes my life a lot simpler.

It is built in metal which makes it a solid construction. I find using bigger connections much easier to use quickly than the smaller telephone patch cables. Although I'm new to patch bays with terms like normal and half normaled was a bit confusing but after trying it out a few times I got the hang of it.

Only downside is that to switch from normal and half normal you need to unscrew the front panel to access to the individual PCB and turn them. The PCB is a bit wobbly which makes getting the panel back on the unit a bit of a hassle. But you don't do that too many times after you got it set up.
