I bought this for my lute guitar (from Thomann), and as this has a strap button at the end but no second one, I am using the strap with a Daddario DGS15 Quick Release System, which is basically two short strings with each their clip, fitting together, one to be put around the neck of the instrument, the other to be attached to the end of the strap – this way, the strap can be connected to the neck of the instrument, but it can also easily be detached, which can be useful when putting the instrument in its bag, or perhaps using the same strap with several instruments.
The strap is very pleasant to wear, having a padding and some other kind of material on the inside. Suede on the outside looks good and feels comfortable if you touch it, but on the inside it would have been prone to become less nice over time due to sweat and the pressure against the body. The other meterial seems to me to be some kind of artificial leather, but I actually don't know what it is.
I have a similar but wider version, that I use with an acoustic guitar base from Harley Benton, which os more heavy. The lute guitar is far from heavy, and this kind of padded, wide strap is perhaps a bit of overkill, but I was so pleased by the one for the bass that it was an easy choise to get one more, a bit thinner this time, due to the lightness of the instrument.
The length, with the D'Addarío system in one end, is long enough to have the length adjustment at the shortest, and then still using the middle of three holes at the thin end of the strap for the end of the guitar. This fits the slightly higher than normal way of carrying a roundback instrument, while I could imagine that I would use that last hole or adjust the strap to become a bit longer, if used with a normal guitar.
It looks good as well, which is subjective, but I think so, and it is well made, no errors anywhere. I will definitely buy the same kind again when needed for the next instrument, if I don't end up deciding to simply buy some more D'Addario quick releases instead and simply use this strap with all my instruments, easily clipping it on and off them as needed.
