One unexpected purpose, an alternative solution

I bought this because the speaker stands Millenium BS-500 Set had a bad quality clamp - the hex nut started to rotate inside the fixture, the fixation did not work. It was also not a spare part. From this detail I got a quill nut, which I worked half thinner and installed the Millenium fixing console. For this, I actually bought this spare part. How this detail works for its intended purpose, I have no idea at all.
