Using a hand guard is nearly essential for me due to the corrosiveness nature of perspiration. The usual leather or plastic hand guards can leave stains or adversely affect tone quality and can be cumbersome to put on. While any hand guard will affect tone quality sometimes the tradeoffs can be more positive than negative. This hand guard is exactly as advertised: provides perfect protection, is super easy to put on and take off and does not leave a mark or residue. The ease of use means you can use it for practice or rehearsal and in 2 seconds take it off for a performance. The black model has a nice surface texture that is comfortable to hold and provides a secure grip. Some have reported a positive affect to their tone. The difference may be down to a matter of taste. If you use a hand guard this one works the BEST and is worth the price.
