Jensen C12Q-8

Min första Jensen C12Q-8 köpte jag för att den var billig och jag bara behövde fylla ett håll i en 4x12a. Men i och med detta upptäckte jag en superkombo som jag använt sedan dess. I den gamla Marshall lådan med ett trasigt element satt det några original celestion (minns inte exakt benämning men typ G12 75... nåt av den sorten alla hatar och byter ut om man surfar runt lite). Det jag märkte med Jensen högtalaren var att den var lite tunn och spretig på egen hand men tillsammans med ett tråkigt och tungt celestion-element som själv mest bara flyttar luft och ger dig en knytnäve i magen blev det en magisk kombination som plockar fram det bästa hos varandra och döljer det dåliga. Jag har denna kombination i alla mina lådor numera: 1 Jensen C12Q-8 + 1 billig celestion som jag köpt av nån som inte ville ha den, öppen låda, 2x12. Att Jensen är lätt och billig är ju inte helelr någon nackdel.

I bought the C12Q for my `67 Deluxe Reverb because I've never heard it with what was supposed to be the original speaker.

I think that soundwise it might come close to the originals(?) but for my taste it lacks a bit of low end and (at least while new) sounds a bit screechy in the top end.
I´ll probably go back to the Celestion Gold.

In the end it´s just a matter of taste, I'd recommend try before buying though which goes for all speaker elements.

Edit: I built a 5E3 Deluxe a while back, after trying a bunch of other speakers in it I reminded myself that I had a C12Q too, I put it in the cab and I think this is THE speaker for the tweed style deluxes, i.e. no circuit tweaking necessary IMO. Possibly an AlNiCo speaker might be an even better match for these amps.
This made me give a couple stars more.
