IK Multimedia ARC ON·EAR

I didn't give it five stars all the way, but it wouldn't be wrong. It could have more functionality, more settings in the software, but I don't really miss or need anything more. The speaker simulations are a little weird. Most of them cut the low end a little bit, some more than others. So if you mix only on a speaker simulation, you might end up with a mix with an exaggerated bottom end. I mostly use speaker sims for reference listening.

The calibration is really good! I didn't even realize how much high end my Beyerdynamic headphones had. I read that they're known for that. Now, those headphones sound better.

Quality is great, and you can also repair it, change the battery and other parts. Well done, IK Multimedia!

I bought it to get hardware based calibration that I can use at venues. It's very sturdy, has plenty of functionality and even a high quality DAC that can be used with your phone or tablet as well. I dislike that you can not put your own profiles on it. That means your Headphones are either supported or not. (check before you buy) There is an option to request your model though.
I'm not sure how much I trust it because I tested it with several alternatives and they all sound different. The way, measurements are taken, the equipment used, the algorithm, smoothing and other factors make it nearly impossible to fully rely on it but it gets you in the ballpark.
Additionally you get a nicely cushioned bag and quality cables.

The ARK os well made solid and robust, sound quality was excellent. BUT a big BUT. I used AKG studio K702 listening through the different virtual speakers was good, was able to hear sound difference in all but quite honestly, I didn’t hear much difference from bypass and the ARC, nothing sprung out at me, like having to make any changes to my mix, so me thinks another useless, maybe if not so good quality headphones used, might have the wowa factor but if you are using £300 Studio monitor flat response phones, don’t waste your money. I was expecting to be wow thing.

Dieses kleine Interface kalibriert jeden beliebigen Kopfhörer – und plötzlich hörst du so neutral und ausgewogen, als würdest du in einem perfekt eingemessenen Regieraum sitzen. Aber auch die Simulation für handelsübliche Fernseher, Soundbar oder sogar ein Smartphone fehlen nicht, um mal schnell zu beurteilen, wie es denn da klingt!

Ich war ehrlich überrascht, wie stark sich das Hörerlebnis verändert. Der ARC ON·EAR korrigiert Frequenzgänge präzise, gleicht individuelle Schwächen deines Kopfhörers aus und verwandelt ihn in ein echtes Referenzwerkzeug. Plötzlich hörst du Details, die vorher untergingen: kleine EQ-Fehler, zu viel Raumanteil, ein unruhiger Bass. Es fühlt sich an, als würde das Gerät dein Gehör neu justieren – und das tut es im besten Sinne.

Gerade für Mixing und Mastering unterwegs ist das ein echter Gamechanger. Statt zwischen verschiedenen Monitoren hin- und herzuhören, kannst du jetzt auf Kopfhörern objektiv beurteilen, was du da tust. Kein Raten mehr, kein Schönhören – nur ehrliche, lineare Wiedergabe.

Das Schöne: Trotz aller Präzision bleibt der Klang musikalisch. Nichts wirkt steril oder leblos. Der ARC ON·EAR zeigt einfach, was wirklich da ist – ohne Effekthascherei, ohne Übertreibung.

Fazit:
Ein kleines Gerät mit großer Wirkung. Wer ernsthaft Musik mischt, produziert oder mastert, bekommt hier ein Tool, das das eigene Ohr neu eicht – und einmal gehört, will man es nicht mehr missen.
