Pros:
Nice sound
good setup
low price
HI-mass bridge?
Cons:
cheap electronics
slight fretbuzz
I just received the bass today and out of the box the setup was really nice and the intonation almost perfect. There are some sharp fret-ends and some fretbuzz but not in abundance so that will be an easy fix.
The sound is much better than expected, the roswell pickup delivers a reasonably defined and clear sound, maybe a bit less bottom end than you would associate with a P-bass but for me that isn't really a problem. The controls are as you would expect basically just on/off switches, there is no real gradience they are either fully on or fully off. I am going to change out the electronics so this isn't important for me but if you're planning on keeping the bass as is this is worth noting.
The neck is really quite chunky even for a P-bass which is worth noting for somebody with smaller hands than me. The bass is equipped with a high mass bridge which does provide longer sustain, however if you are a perfectionist you might want to switch it out for a more vintage correct bridge.
In short this is a very good bass for the money, all the issues that are present are easily fixable if you have any sort of technical know-how when it comes to guitar and basses. It's a great sound for a very small amount of money!
