I bought this guitar because it looks good.
It really does. Perfect finish, and the flamed maple neck is gorgeous. It’s a gem.
But it also plays well. I’m an Ibanez guy. I love the razor sharp necks of my Prestiges. This neck is super chunky. I really wouldn’t think I could play on it. But the finish is so smooth I just sweep across the frets. I restringed it to a 09-46 hybrid set and with minor adjustments got perfect intonation and action. Plus to the placement of the truss rod. The rear humbucker is a bit weak. It manages chugging, but there are better. Thinking of upgrading it. The neck hunbucker is on the contrary a beast. It has so high output it pushes my Engl to break up into creamy distortion. Lovely for shredding. With the coil-split you cool things down and get transparent clear tone. I’ve abused it for a time now on rehearsal etc and it stays fantastically in tune. That is good.
I will use another guitar to record metal rhythm. But I will use this one on stage up against the spotlights for everyone to see. Because it’s really good looking.
