Harley Benton BJU-15Pro Banjo Ukulele

This thing actually sounds godawful, but that's because it's a banjo ukulele, and they're SUPPOSED to sound godawful! That's what makes it so fun and useful!

Think of this instrument as you think of spices in your kitchen. You would never eat spices alone because they taste real bad on their own, but they can really improve good food and make it more interesting. Banjo ukuleles are like that!

I've never seen another banjo ukulele IRL, so I can't say if this one is any better or worse than usual for the breed, but it seems well built to me. One reviewer said the tuners are bad and needs replacing, so I ordered a set. But the tuners on the instrument are actually just fine, so I didn't bother changing them.

Fantastisk banjolele till ett otroligt pris! Jag har flera ukuleler och gitarrer men detta var bara min andra banjolele. Den första jag köpte (på Amazon, kinesiska märket Kmise) returnerade jag pga stora kvalitetsbrister. Med den här banjolelen har jag inget att klaga på. Den är precis som jag hade hoppats. Den är ganska tung, men så är det nog med alla banjoleler med stängd baksida/resonator. Det gör det nödvändigt att spela med axelband, vilket jag ändå alltid föredrar att göra med ukulele och gitarr.

Det går utmärkt att ta bort bakstycket av trä. Jag tyckte faktiskt inte att det gjorde någon stor skillnad för ljudstyrkan eller ljudkvaliteten. Det som mest dämpade ljudstyrkan (för grannarnas skull) var att placera ett par strumpor inkilade mellan dragstången och membranet. Jag gjorde det och satte sedan tillbaka bakstycket. Bakstycket är fixerat med 4 rejäla skruvar som är lätta att lossa och sätta tillbaka, så detta bör man kunna göra så ofta som man önskar.

Must admit to being more than pleasantly surprised when I opened my latest package from Thomas, a Harley Benton BJU15-PRO Banjo Ukulele. This Ukulele has features on it that are on a par with other Banjo Ukes more than three times its price. It will definitely accompany me at all my gigs. The sound it very good, the resonator doing its job extremely well, (so much so it can be heard next door, think my next purchase will be a mute!) on a par with some of my more expensive and antique Banjo Ukes, let it be said I think the great George Formby would have had fun on this Uke. My Uke instructor Phil Doleman, also commented (google him for more info), remarked for the price (don't let this put you off) what an excellent job it does. As for Thomas from order to delivery Germany to UK in 3 1/2 days, thats going some. Allied to this the excellent guarantee package, just makes one think, thank my lucky stars I chose Thomann, so much so all my future musical purchases will be from Thomann, can't recommend them enough. Whats not to like about this Uke absolutely nothing, purchase it with confidence, you won't regret it one iota.
