After a bit of research on Thomann my choice was this interface, mainly by two reasons:
- I was already familiar with Scarlett and had the feeling they were good products.
- I wanted old school MIDI connections.
At the same time I got two additional audio channels that I never thought I would use. A couple of weeks later I found myself buying a second hand Roland JU-06 module and instantly found out what to do with the two extra channels. They’re great to plug in external gear, just for mixing or for recording. Couldn’t live without them!
The configuration tool (I’m on macOS) is a bit confusing, but when you got the hold of it it’s fairly easy. In my case, I control the JU-06 via MIDI in Logic and when I’m good with the sound of it I can just loop back the analog sound into Logic and record it as an audio track.
A good thing is that the interface remembers the settings and you can actually use it stand-alone as a rather odd mixer.
