Another Epi Uke
Renne K. 23.04.2014
This Epiphone Les Paul - HCS is my second one of these uke models. At first, I bought the VS colored one, tried it, played it, fell in love with it and decided to get this cherry sunburst one too. As an "excuse" to myself, I decided that I have to have a backup uke while on stage. It's a pity they don't manufacture those in tenor sizes because I really do need one and I do like the Epiphone "LesPaul" theme.

Anyway, both of these uke models are surprisingly identical in finish, except for the color theme of course. They sound very much similar, both with or without electrical amplifying, and a very good thing esthetically, is a possibility not to use separately included white pickguard if you really don't need it (black would look better, heck, why not include them both)! Anyway, somebody or someone is really taking seriously the manufacturing quality here. A very nice instrument line indeed! Awesome sounds and beautiful finishes for "just" quite low priced ukuleles. I'm a fan and I like!

There is this one thing though. You should consider swapping the factory stringset to get everything out as I did. There is a slight possibility that you might not like slightly elastic feel and sound of the factory set.

This ukulele is the far most funniest instrument I've ever had!

Les shouldn't be ashamed

The Ukulele itself is very solidly built, (in Indonesia). The downside of this solidity is it has a very thick sound board and this coupled with the fact it has quite a thin body means it's not very loud acoustically, you can of course put it through an amplifier though and it does do very well when amplified It's also worth changing the strings to get the best out of the sound and I have gone low G with it now which gives it a slightly more Guitar like feel
One thing though, It may say Les Paul, it may even look like a Les Paul but it sounds like a Ukulele

My new Ukulele
Paul8801 16.06.2015
Already have a nice little £20 uke, which I love. Decided to take the plunge and get a decent one and the Epiphone Les Paul looked right. Glad I did. This is a much better piece of kit. Very well made, solid heavy feel, proper bolt-on neck. It just feels like a little guitar and plays really well - a professional instrument. I'll probably change the strings soon, but the ones supplied are not bad. They stayed in tune after just a couple of days and seem fine. As an acoustic instrument it sounds great but plug it in and it can sound like anything you want. Fabulous

Not the best ukulele in the world
Oliver195 23.10.2016
I bought this ukulele not having tried others in stores and have never owned a ukulele previously. I bought it as a new instrument to learn for a bit of fun.

The uke arrived well packed. Delivery was prompt.

The instrument is well made and looks amazing (really well finished and constructed).

In terms of sound I have to say this isn't the best sounding uku. It is rather dull and lifeless. Having tried others in stores I now have a comparison. I think that the fault (in terms of sound) is due to the shallow body of the instrument. Styling over sound I think.

The instrument does have a jack input which is very unusual for a ukulele. I've not plugged it in yet so can't comment beyond this.

Can't say I'm happy with this, but I'll keep it for now. Well made, looks lovely but certainly isn't great on sound.
