Electro Harmonix Freeze Sound Retainer

Solid construction and easy to handle, but I didn't like the sound. No matter what you feed into it it's just a high-pitched drone with annoying loop artifacts. The most fun I had with it was using the "latch" mode to freeze a sound, then using a flanger with manual peak knob to play melodies with the resonance. Still, I could easily have done that with a keyboard and some electrical tape.

I would actually have preferred if it had a larger or variable grain size to provide a more choppy lo-fi sound. Now it's more like a really bad reverb or a compressor you have to operate manually, and sounds like an old soundcard where one of the MIDI channels got stuck.
