Boss GE-7 Equalizer

For me, the BOSS GE-7 has been great. It is a high quality product and still the price is reasonable. You can use it to shape your sound, obiously, but it also acts like a boost.

I use it to shape my tone when switching guitars between a P90 Les Paul, a humbucker/singlecoil/humbucker Ibanez RG570 and a vintage telecaster and it works great. This way I don't have to fiddle with the tone control on all my other pedals. I especially use this to take just a little top of my bright telecaster and it works great.

In conclusion: Yes, you can benefit from an EQ pedal and yes the BOSS GE-7 is a solid piece of equipment that will last a lifetime and be a vital tool in shaping your tone.

Got this to use as a boost for solos, last in chain. Compared to other clean boosts, you can shape your lead tone to your heart's content rather than just adding volume. Want a mid boost? Just set it for that.

Drawbacks of using the GE-7 as a boost is that it gets noisy while boosting. Check guides to handle this as well as possible - you need to set it carefully.

Whether I use this or a more traditional clean boost pedal depends on what distortion pedals I'm running before. Sometimes you really want to add more mids, and this is perfect.

Otherwise it's a Boss pedal. Best pedal-switch on the market and overall impeccable build quality.
