The ultimate centerpiece for outboard gear and analog synths
The Audient iD48 is an absolute powerhouse. The 32-bit ESS converters offer a pristine, wide-open soundstage with incredible dynamic range, which is absolutely crucial when capturing the delicate nuances of solo acoustic piano.
However, the real game-changer for my workflow is the switchable analog inserts. Being able to seamlessly patch in external outboard gear like preamps and more directly into the signal path without constantly repatching cables is incredible. Furthermore, the discrete JFET instrument inputs on the front panel add a really nice, subtle analog coloration that handles the massive low-end from my Moog Subsequent 37 beautifully.
The console-grade mic preamps are whisper-quiet, the build quality is tank-like, and the monitor control section is unmatched at this price point.
Pros:
Pristine 32-bit ESS conversion
8 switchable analog inserts for easy outboard integration
JFET DIs that sound fantastic on analog synths
Excellent build quality and routing software
Cons:
None really
