The reduction in volume is significant, without making it feel much different to other beaters (a slight softness and I guess it might be difficult to play really fast). However, the rod seems to be made of carbon fiber and when attaching it to the kick pedal it's very easy to damage it by tightening too much. When trying to avoid that it's also easy to not tighten it enough so that it suddenly flies off during playing. For that reason I will not be using it at my upcoming gig as was intended, because I don't want to lose my kick mid song. For rehearsals it will not matter that much.
