Vox Cambridge 50

I own this amp only for short time but i have to say its very good at what it does. Great starting amp with enough features to keep you interested and occupied. I coudnt believe how good it sounds. You can hear that small tube working. As I said it ticks all the boxes for me and its definitely loud enough to go gigging as well. Only "cons" i found( and its important i think) is NO designated Efx pedal input .

I like the choice between different modulations that are solid. Good clean sound, solid Super Lead, and nice crispy AC30TB. The key is to use the low power and you can play at the room volume in the apartment. Even at low volume, the drive is great. Since I don't play metal, I find it difficult to judge the quality of the distortion channel modulation. The cabinet is compact, but the speaker is still 12'', which is great. The price is very reasonable. I recommend it. There is a wide variety of styles to choose from and the sound can get very close to Brian Setzer or Angus Young if you are interested into that.

I mostly use clean sounds, but im hooked on the AC30 (not TB), its nice and smooth, but i have an AC30, may be a link there.
Oʻn the cambridge,I use 'aux in' via a small mixer, great for mic, in smaller venues.
The fx are sweet, but i dont use them much.
Foot switch is a great adition, for some expression on intro's and outro's.
The 12" speaker gives big sound too.
My overall view is, too many grind channels, even though theyre nice sounding grind.
The rest of this machine is, so far, ok, and well worth its cost.

J'ai longtemps lorgné vers un Boss katana MKII avant de découvrir ce modèle Cambridge 50 Vox. Je ne regrette absolument pas mon choix. Cette technologie Nutube est bluffante.Les sonorités sont typées Vox et la modélisation réussie. On est loin des sons froids et criards de certains autres amplis ( je pense aux modélisations des Fender champion et superchamp que j'ai déjà utilisé) . Le tout avec un budget des plus raisonnables.
Les 50 watts font le job .Peut-être un poil léger sur les sons clean en configuration live. Mais pour la maison, ou même les répètes, tout va bien. De plus, il est très léger à transporter.Les commandes sont beaucoup plus intuitives que sur les anciennes séries VT de la même marque.Quelques points négatifs à souligner tout de même:
Le bouton marche arrêt du panneau de contrôle est un petit contacteur qui me donne déjà du fil à retordre après seulement quelques jours d'utilisation. Les effets embarqués suffisent largement à compenser l'utilisation d'un pedalboard (pratique). Par contre pas plus de 2 effets simultanés. Pas d'externalisation de HP possible non plus . Le Célestion VX 12 remplit parfaitement son rôle mais il est dommage de ne pas pouvoir utiliser un cab externe.Absence également de boucle pour effets externes. Et enfin j'aurais aimé voir le tissu en façade aux couleurs locales vox et non noir.Mais bon, là je chipote!
En résumé, pour le prix , on en a pour son argent. Un ampli de caractère , facile à utiliser , produisant des sonorités riches et chaleureuses. Le grain des lampes avec la souplesse d'utilisation des transistors.
A essayer d'urgence, c'est vraiment bluffant.
