have the knowledge to fix some things on an instrument. The original strings are completely horrible (Yes I'm used to gut strings), the scale is not optimal and I had to file both bridge and the nut a lot. The strings plopped off as soon as I tried to tune it up like two steps. I also put on three fine tuners and changed to viola strings. Then the sound became decent.
I'm aware of the sound in these type of body shapes are a bit quieter.
The wood work on the other hand. Really good job, no splinters or rough edges anywhere and the aesthetics are really top notch.
I don't see myself using this instrument extensively, but I always wanted one and it's great that Thomann has these instruments in their assortment.
