The TC Electronic Shaker is a vibrato effect, whose Speed, Depth, Rise Time and Tone can all be adjusted, offering guitarists all sorts of possibilities. F.Y.I - TonePrint is the newest feature from TC Electronics. A USB connection allows you to receive TonePrint sounds and software updates via the internet. The Latch mode is really a beauty. The effect is only active when you press and hold the switch - ideal for giving long fading chords a beautiful finish, or achieving dramatic effect during a solo.

Die Bedienung des Shaker Vibrato ist gut und intuitiv, auch der Download der Toneprints von der tc electronic Website funktionierte auf Anhieb und ohne Bedienungsanleitung. Die Toneprints sind für mich persönlich etwas enttäuschend, da die Unterschiede zum Standardsound teilweise nur minimal bis kaum wahrnehmbar sind. Warum gibt es keine Univibe oder Leslie-Toneprints für den Shaker? Ich habe alle Toneprints ausprobiert und bin beim Original-Sound geblieben.
Der Klang des Shaker hinterlässt bei mir einen zwiespältigen Eindruck. Der Effekt wird digital erzeugt und ich bilde mir ein, dass man das auch hört - leider im negativen Sinne. Der Sound wirkt irgendwie indirekt mit einer fühlbaren Latenz, als seien hier minderwertige AD/DA Wandler am Werk. Ich hätte mir da mehr analoge Wärme und Effekttiefe gewünscht. Der Tone-Regler ist leider auch nur über einen begrenzten Regelweg nutzbar und etwas sprunghaft. Die Nebengeräusche sind erfreulicherweise sehr gering.
Die Verarbeitung ist insgesamt gut, allerdings gelten die Fusschalter allgemein als störanfällig.
Fazit: Der Shaker ist klanglich nicht ganz auf Boss- und ganz bestimmt nicht auf Boutique-Niveau, die Toneprints sind eine nette Spielerei aber nicht unbedingt notwendig. Trotzdem ein ordentliches Gerät, der Sound ist halt Geschmackssache.
