I've been through various metronomes. This is easily my favourite. I use this for practising finger style guitar when away from my computer.
Pros:
* Has a nice woodblock sound which I find preferable to the pitched chirps that other digital metronomes offer
* The bpm advances via 'traditional' steps of 2 to 4 bpm which for me is perfect for gradually building up speed when working on a piece or exercise
* Because it has a physical display rather than LCD, it can be easily used in direct sunlight when practising in the garden or campsite
* Runs on AA batteries which in my experience is a more reliable format that 9v when you want to go rechargeable
Cons:
* no tuner unlike some of the multipurpose tuner/metronomes
I use it for my classical guitar practicing and it is just must have. The sound and light pulsating effects are great, the quality great. Batteries last forever - I use rechargable ones and after half a year every day practice still did not recharge once. Only one small drawback is that the scale is not illuminated. I practice mostly in low light conditions and the scale is small and not very visible in the circumstances. It would be nice to make it phosphorescent like on some watch dials.
Good and simple tool. Pros: easy handling, sturdy, ok sound, adjustable volume, has a stand. Cons: Flashlights don't really help to keep in sync, better not to look at them while practicing. Plastic wheel get scratched easily, and loses transparency afterwards.
As a beginner ukulele player, I was researching for metronomes for a week before deciding on this one to help with my playing. I'm so glad I settled on this one as it's very humble and basic yet does the job perfectly without the unnecessary bells & whistles of the other types in the market!
I use this for saxophone practice and have no complaints. The nice woodblock sound makes long practice sessions easier than using a digital click. The build is nice and the metronome sits well on a music stand and has its own stand for placing on surfaces
It's also straightforward to operate--I use the beep on specific beats a lot to know where bars start.
