Native Instruments Maschine MK3 Black

I was a bit sceptical about this, since it is basically a controller, which means that it can do nothing without a computer and its accompaning software, however everything is so well integrated that you can forget that you have a computer with it.
The build quality is very good, the screens are really sharp and shiny, and the buttons-pads-knobs feel really high quality. Also the 4d encoder becomes so nice when you get used to use it.
It is quite flexible and it is really up to you the way to use it. It can be a drum machine, a sampler, a looper, midi controller, an instrument and much more. Also it is really nice that it has a integrated sound card (not the highest quality soundcard but it gets the job done)
I have the software installed in mac and windows and it works really well in both.

I found this was an incredibly well built device and I loved all the fantastic features it offered, except the software layout!!! I wanted to love it enough to keep it, but after a week I had to throw in the towel.

Personally, I found the Maschine software more of an obstacle than a tool. I'm sure many many people would disagree, (I think the sequencer style just didn't work for me, but thats what it is after all!) but definitely do your research before settling.

I'll be going back to working horizontally in Logic, and to be completely honest, i'll probably miss the Maschine hardware for some time.
