Good Marshall pre-amp sound
Sounds like a good Marshall pre-amp circuit but without the final touches to be classed as a market leading ‘Marshall in a box’ pedal. It’s a reissue of a classic design from some time ago but still holds its own with what’s on the market today. 3 band EQ is a huge plus but isn’t super powerful as expected with Marshall EQs. The output level is a little on the quiet side but no huge issue!

Marshall in a Box
It works best into a clean or lightly pushed amp, where its character really comes through. The tone has that classic Marshall saturation ,thick, vocal, and harmonically rich, but without drifting into high‑gain territory. It has this peculiar quality where it feels heavily saturated even though the actual gain level stays moderate, which makes it incredibly expressive under the fingers.
Throw it on a clean channel and you get an instant Gary Moore vibe: singing sustain, midrange bite, and that unmistakable British roar.
It doesn’t pair well with every amp, it really needs a clean or lightly pushed platform to shine. Into the right amp, though, it nails that cranked Plexi/JCM800 voice with its unique “saturated but not high‑gain” feel.

Identical to the Original
What is there to say about this Iconic pedal. My older brother had one from the late 80s. I have played on the original for 2 decades and I can tell you, after going through it for a month, the re-issue is the same, identical thing, I or my brother could not tell the difference.
