I have three sets of these background mounts from Manfrotto, and while they do the job (until they break), I think the design could be improved a lot. First of all, when you mount your standard size backgrounds on these, the backgrounds end up so very close to the stands that the paper easily get caught and stuck on the way down, and if you have your hands anywhere near you easily get paper cuts. This could easily be avoided if it was possible to mount the papper slightly further away from the stand, but with the locking mechanism of these mounts, that's not possible. Second thing I find irritating is all the plastic parts that easily break. Another thing that could be improved is the chain, When lowering the stand to excahnge background or adjust it, the chain easily tangles up and folds itself.
To clarify, I have many products from Manfrotto, and in general, I'm happy with both function and quality, but this mount in particular, is a product which need a remake and some love from product designers/engineers.
