1/4" thread is too long
I use these to mount small video cameras and a digital recorder onto mic stands, which are much less obtrusive than a camera tripod for the audience at a performance.
A minor but annoying problem is that the 1/4" thread is way too long for the attached equipment. The screw bottoms before the shoulder of the adapter can rest against the baseplate of any camera or recorder I have tested. This makes the attachment flimsy and unreliable.
The thread is 9.85 mm long, while the applicable standard, ISO 1222:2010, stipulates that tripod mount bolts should be 4.5 mm long.

Works as intended
I use this to fit a webcam, with a 3/8" thread, on a microphone stand and it works great!
Highly recommended if you need to fit something light with a 3/8" thread on something else.
