Kasleder Toxic Twins Dual Overdrive

This is a Bluesbreaker (left) and Tube Screamer (right) style combo pedal which manages to sound like neither of the two. Let me elaborate on that statement - while it has the sound signature of BB and TS pedals, it has its own unique identity and probably wouldn't be immediately identified as either a BB or TS.

Can it sound like a BB or TS? Sure, if tweaked right. You can get some very killer tons from each side and also stack them together for a nice high gain sound. You also have clipping and bass DIP switches inside of the pedal for more tonal possibilities.

The pedal is sturdily built, knobs turn smoothly without feeling cheap or brittle and the switches are footswitches are solid.

The LEDs do a great job and telling you what's on and what isn't without blinding you if you look down at the pedalboard.

If I had to criticize the pedal, I would probably give it flack only for the markers on the knobs, as they aren't very easy to see, especially if you're in a dark room or have other things with bright lights on your pedalboard.

So, who's this for?
I wouldn't buy this if I wanted a replica of a BB or TS that is as high fidelity as possible - the originals are there and there are also other pedals that do this better. I would (and did) buy this if I wanted a very versatile pedal that gives you a lot of different and unique tones. This is probably not coming off of my pedalboard anytime soon.

Edit: I had already praised the pedal a lot in my initial review and it is indeed super versatile. But so far I was using it as a set of low gain boosts which worked together nicely.

But no, this is not the correct way to use this pedal. Only recently I've set the BB side to the max clipping mode, gain and volume about 2 o clock. TS side for humbucker bass boost (the lowest before off) and dammit this thing rips. The BB side has become my main sound. Last in the chain of ODs. Behind the Toxic Twins, a Jan Ray with Bass and treble at 1-2 ( you can use a timmy but I like the bass eq on the Jan Ray and the combo gives a fuller sound than woth the Timmy), and a Klone behind the Jan Ray for more options.

How can this pedal be so good? Apart from the awesome clipping on the BB side in the max internal setting, the thing is practically completely noiseless. Can't believe my ears this is the best pedal I've ever had and I've had a lot of pedals.

I am blown away by this pedal. The build quality is incredible, but its tone is in a league of its own. The sensitivity to playing dynamics are out of this world and the way the bluesbreaker side blooms when using it in an edge of breakup type of setting is heavenly. Its very well balanced and stays articulate when dialing up the gain. Definitely my favorite drive ive tried to date. I havent tried all the top of the line dual drives, but i have a 2022 Duellist and the Toxic Twins surpasses it in many ways. The Duellist does higher gain tones better in my opinion, but where the Toxic Twins shines is in low to medium gain territory. If your on the fence about trying this pedal, just get one and try it. I highly doubt u will regret that decision. Its just a beautiful, beautiful pedal!

No matter what we have, there is always the feeling that there is something better out there. This feeling comes from the fact that we are proven right when eventually we do run across something that does sound better than what we already have.

This is one of those pedals that will easily pay for itself when you sell a handful of your overdrive pedals that can't touch this thing. 48 hours after this arrived, I posted my other Bluesbreaker and Tube Screamer pedals which did not sound close to the full and musical tone that came from either side of this pedal. There is a reason why Kris Barocsi has at least 3 videos incorporating this pedal. After having tried over 100 overdrive pedals. I haven't found a current Tubescreamer-style production pedal that sounds better.
