Harley Benton DC-Custom II Cherry

Item arrived in perfect condition. The neck feels great, no buzzing or sharp frets, he intonation and relief were still good even after being shipped across the globe! The tuning stability is rock solid, so you can really slam on the thing without worrying about falling out of key. The Tesla pickups have surprisingly beautiful clean tones, but they really shine when you add gain. Add in the coil split and you've got a recipe for a wonderfully versatile instrument that you could take on any gig from Black Sabbath to Stevie Wonder. At such a low price I would recommend this to anyone, whether it's your first guitar or your fiftieth the bang-to-buck ratio on this thing is too good to pass up.

I bought this guitar mostly out of curiosity...well, and because YT is full of clips with positive reviews for this guitar. In case of disappointment, I was ready to regret the investment of 224 CHF/EUR for this instrument. But when the guitar finally arrived I was (extremely!) positively surprised. Although this instrument is sold as "low-budget", this guitar definitely does not belong to that group - this is a carefully made guitar in a factory that obviously has solid experience in production and a strict level of quality control. In addition, the fairy tales about "special, rare & expensive materials" that brand name companies use in advertising their solid body guitars and of which this guitar is a copy sound ridiculous to me. For an instrument that produces 99.99% of its sound by induction of metal strings in an electromagnet and electrical impulses that are additionally amplified in amplifiers, it is more important which and what kind of strings as well as which and what kind of pickups are used. And of course how and how carefully the instrument was made. It used to be important where such instruments are made, but today that is almost irrelevant - both brand names and no-names have moved production to China, Vietnam, Indonesia...everyone uses CNC machines and more or less automated production. The only arbitrary factor left is the level of quality control, and believe me, this guitar is a high-quality product.
My advice to those reading this text: Buy this guitar, with a little extra work (guitar start-up), some extra money (replacing both pickups and possibly tuning machines) you will get an instrument that differs very, very little from a ten times more expensive brand name "original". I have been playing guitar for well over 20 years and wanted to have a change as I am used to playing seven string ...this guitar fitted everything I was looking for but I was not sure of the quality until I received this guitar...for the price its a no brainer the sound is amazing and is so versatile from nice cleans to crazy in your face metal and every thing else in the middle ...the pickups sound good and the guitar has zero issues and looks stunning...for a beginner this is a great guitar and for a pro well I see nothing wrong with jamming on stage with this or in your home....for a bedroom rocker or someone wanting to buy there child one of these guitars I would recommend a yamaha thr5 or 10 practice amp to pair with this ....this is my first harley benton guitar and not my last...great guitar and for the price its a bargain...took about 6 days to arrive..just brought a harley benton Nashville steel string so hoping to receive another beauty....cheers

When I first found out about Harley Benton on You Tube this was the instrument I was intrigued by. A chunkier SG style with split coils for a wider tonal range. Unfortunately for me it was never in stock, fortunately for Harley Benton I thought I'd try a CS 24 T instead and was amazed at the quality I ended up buying 3 other guitars (TE-52-NA, ST-62DLX and a DCE acoustic)

So eventually I received my DC Custom II...

It looks stunning. The finish and the binding are wonderful. I really tried to find imperfections and found none. I had been prepared for a reddish fingerboard but it has a nice dark colour.

Tuning up was such a pleasure. The nut and the Grover tuners are way better than anything I've bought from Gibson.

As always the action is slightly high but anyone could live with that. However I did bring it down and the neck did not need any adjustment to account for that

Plugged in the Tesla pickups are a step up from the Roswells and the coil tap option gives many possibilities for all of my sounds. The neck position is warm without being muddy and the Bridge is bright without being overly harsh.

This is not what you'd call a "budget guitar" unless you go by the price alone. I would rate my purchase as equal to my top price instruments and superior to the kinds of guitar I used to own all those years ago for more than double the price. Maybe I have been fortunate to get the best of the best samples but I doubt the difference is ever that much. By far the best HB guitar I have had the pleasure to own.

Received this well packaged, express shipped guitar from Thomann in NY 3 days after ordering it on a Saturday night. This guitar is truly incredible! The craftsmanship, quality materials, and parts are hard to understand at this price point. Thomson should be commended for offering instruments of this caliber to everyone out here. I also believe Thomann has already disrupted the guitar industry. Now big named brands have begun manufacturing in same countries, and now offer budget priced guitars to compete with Thomann.
This is my 5th HB guitar. All sound amazing and look beautiful. I can not recommend this brand enough. Shop around, the selection for any type of guitar you desire is there for the offering.
