I find the 'ultimate' ligature preserves a natural and full tone quality of the bass clarinet. It opens up the overtone spectrum, while keeping the low frequencies nice and full. At the same time the responsiveness of the instrument is enhanced, making the instrument feel easier and free to play in all registers.
