Fender Custom Texas Special Tele Set

I got these to replace the pickups in my Harley Benton tele, it made a world of difference. These pickups are quite "hot" and spiced up the sound significally. I'd say the sound of them is good for blues, rock and maybe hard rock - they sound great with anything from cleans to quite high gain.

I have only soldered once before but despite my lack of skills in that area I managed to do it... even if it took a couple of tries!

So, my summary would be that I would recommend the Texas Specials for anyone who likes that kinda sound that they produce, so check out some sound examples before you decide.

I upgraded an affinity telecaster by replacing the entire signal path and everything not made out of wood with the highest quality components I could find. I recorded some before and after into my PC and not only are they louder but after turning them down to match the old ones its undeniable that the attack is much clearer and more direct and the sustain has beautiful overtones that the old pickups just couldn't find. These pickups sound great one at a time and in parallel, and because I used a 24-pin 5 way switch to wire the pickups to two stacked double 500k pots I can also toggle them in series for a huge and unusual humbucker sound and in an experimental variable out of phase mode where they still sound fantastic and super funky. I feel that these would be most appropriate in a low/medium gain context when wired the default way but I especially recommend them as an alternative to buying a more expensive guitar and I can attest that they'll still sound awesome regardless of how they're wired.
