Fairfield Circuitry Meet Maude

Dieses Pedal kann man nicht vergleichen.
Es wird sich niemals ein Aha - Erlebnis einstellen. Im Gegenteil: Wenn man sich dabei erwischt - so viel Geld, vielleicht sollte ich es zurück schicken. Dieser Gedanke ist nicht abwegig, wenn man dann doch ein Rauschen ausmacht. In der Preisklasse ne,
das geht gar nicht.
Das Positive: Paßt in den Instrumenten-Mix,
es gibt keinen "äääh - schon wieder Delay Sound" Effekt, vollanalog und vollkommen unproblematisch in der Handhabung,
klingt zwar dark aber sehr gut, paßt sehr gut zu Pedalen der gleichen Firma,
einmaliger Klang.
Teuer.
Ist auch was für Sammler.
Ökologisch wertvoll.

I first got into delays with a Boss DD6 many years ago. I couldn't bond with it (turns out I'm not into digital delays), and quickly let it go. Quite a few years later I've picked up an MXR Carbon Copy and loved it so much that I thought I now understand delays and got an additional one: a Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay. Then, at the end of last year, the Carbon Copy stopped working properly one day: the regen pot stopped doing anything, spinning it had no effect. I threw it away and replaced it on my board with the Deep Blue Delay, but it just wasn't doing it, so I started looking at other delays. They needed to be warm and have a longer delay time. The Jam Delay Llama was considered.

Then I've accidentally come across Meet Maude and couldn't believe it. All the demos were great, and the random chorus modulation sounded fantastic. You can of course turn it off if you want, but you can also do RHCP's "Soul to Squeeze" with it. It's warm, you can boost the signal with it, you have what ammounts to a tone control on it. I also own a Strymon Flint which I'm not sure I'd replace if I didn't have it anymore: all I need is Maude.

I actually became such a fan of Fairfield Circuitry after Maude that I've also bought the "An Unpleasant Surprise" fuzz. I don't think they make a bad pedal in the whole bunch.

I've been playing guitar for longer than I care to admit, so I don't gush easily about gear. This is the real deal.

Esatto, questo pedale mi sta fecendo impazzire sia nel bene che nel male.

Nel bene perché il suono è stupendo.
Caldo, avvolgente e molto musicale.
Tende a distorcere un po' troppo ma dovrebbe essere il suo bello... io l'avrei preferito se fosse stato un po' più limpido.

Inutile il compressore (secondo me eh)

La modulazione anche nella posizione leggera comunque troppo invadente.
Forse era meglio mettere un controllo per regolare l'intensità della modulazione ma vabbè, ha comunque il suo fascino.

Veniamo ai fattori negativi.
Premetto che, senza sembrare arrogante, sono davvero esperto di delay analogici.
Li ho avuti tutti, sia vintage come l''ibanez ad80 (per me il migliore), ad9, delixe memory man, pearl, guyatone, diamond memory lane (quello vecchio e vero analogico) , arion, mxr analog delay vintage.

Tutti questi, che dovrebbero essere l'ispirazione per qualsiasi delay analogico moderno, (come questo meet maude) erano tutti più o meno scuri ma restavamo sempre definiti e non saturavano mai, se non se li mandavo in auto oscillazione.

Questo meet maude invece satura praticamente sempre, a qualsiai regolazione ed interazione tra feedback, tone, vol, mix ecc.
Questa cosa può essere un po' spiazzante e fastidiosa.
Diciamo che non è proprio un delay da poter utilizzare sempre come principale.
Va benissimo per alcune sonorità particolarmente vintage e sporche, o per creare tappeti oscillanti o giocare manipolando il time per creare l'effetto tipo synth

Infine i controlli...
Per quanto semplici ed intuitivi, in teoria, invece sono molto complicati perché interagiscono davvero troppo tra loro, soprattutto feedback e tone.

Basta un micro movimento dei potenziometri per cambiare tutto.
Anche volume e mix sono davvero interattivi tra di loro e bisogna davvero impazzire per trovare un settaggio equilibrato.

Insomma, non lo consiglio per niente se volete un delay analogico da usare spesso come principale. Per questo prezzo consiglio davvero l'ibanez ad80, quello originale...non ho osato provare la nuova versione mini.

Se invece cercate un delay da aggiungere ad un altro per creare suoni più particolari, allora prendetelo ad occhi chiusi.
Costa un bel po' ma da tante soddisfazioni.

Personalmente sono molto combattuto....
Un giorno vorrei renderlo perché lo odio...il giorno dopo (ma anche mezz'ora dopo) invece lo amo alla follia tanto che quasi mi commuove

Odio questo pedale maledetto.
Amo questo pedale meraviglioso
