(EDIT 2018/01) I have now 'upped' my rating for this product as it is sturdy, well put together and actually not that expensive considering that time spent soldering your own is also money (time is money that is). I think I even on the longer ones gave a 5/5 rating but 4/4 is essentially the same, they work and will continue to work for years.
And they are rather cheap, so my opening statement is now not entierly true.
END Edit.
Even though it is not much money it is not that cheap, especially if you consider you need a buch of patch cables.
The other option is of course to do them yourself, which will make for higher grade and repairable patch cables. But again, as you will need a bunch do you want to do the legwork?
These cables from Doepfer have a nice bright coulor.
They are thin, which I prefer since they will be hanging infront of your modules and you want as little as possible obscured.
Moulded jacks but there are well made and as long as you don't pull the cord these should keep you a lifetime.
