Darkglass Alpha-Omega

So basically I was aiming for this pedal for quite some time and around half a year ago I bought it. That was one of the best things I've done in my entire life. The quality of the pedal itself, how it's made and the finish is very, very good. The 2 overdrives/distortions we can blend allows for a lot of cool tones. Drive and level is quite self explanatory. The blend option is also a cool thing in the AO as it allows to blend the clean signal with the one after the effect. Definitely helpful when you want to blend a distorted and a clean tone without having 2 cabs and 2 amps. The EQ in the pedal contains 3 knobs - Bass, mid and treble. Very nice as an additional shaping tool. The growl and bite give two additional effects, that are really awesome. Got to say this pedal has a really unique sound and it's definitely worth a shot. I play in a prog metal band and this beauty fulfill my needs 100%. You can get hevily distorted, raw bass tones as well as light overdriven sounds. Just as a last note, the package of the effect is awesome! Also Darkglass adds a sticker and a pick with their logo. Nice bonus! If you have the money and the will to experiment - go for it!

Received the pedal. Plugged it in and STRAIGHT out the box my tone felt like it "stepped up" to a whole new another level. The mix and blend options (also equalizer) gives the versatility to handle whatever bass you have in your hand.

Also I love the faces on sound guys when they ask about my setup and I just ask for an XLR and plug it in and voilá - soundcheck done.

I highly recommend this to studio (obviously) but listen here - it works live like a charm. Won't stop using it.

Tried to run it through some of my analog synths as well and I gotta say that the distortion / warmth is so transparent that it doesn't eat up the pads or leads I'm having on the synth.

Darkglass's most transparent preamp and most distorted drive engine of all their gear! The frequency bands of the EQ are perfect considering how each of the distortion circuits shapes the tone of your input signal. And, as with all Darkglass pedals, it respects and preserves the character and tone of your bass while building an absolutely massive sound with it, even if you have the blend knob all the way to the right! In terms of EQ shaping, Alpha circuit is similar to B7K and Omega is similar to VMT, but both of them are totally unique and really well tailored. The ability to blend the two circuits is probably the most interesting feature, as it allows you to create your own signature sound!

Almost, exactly the sound I wanted... there's always that exact sound in your head that you want, this is 99% there.

Easy to use, it's very nice to be able to mix the clean/dirty signal and I find the EQ section satisfying. Solid build quality and it looks good too.

As I said, I have the "ideal" sound in my head and it's nearly there - I've experimented a fair bit and whilst these aren't sounds I'd go for you could get something from moderate rock, to maybe even a grindcore sound out of this. Personally, I play indie-rock (at the moment) and use this for the odd bit of thickness here and there and it's pretty ideal.

The price tag may be a little prohibitive to some, but I guess you get what you pay for and in 2 months or so of use, I'm glad I bought it and I can see myself using this for a long, long time.
