Atem Extreme. Does what it says on the tin!
For a number of years, I’ve been using the Atem iso (mini) and while good, I was always running out of input and I really didn’t like HDMI.
The new Extreme ISO, with SDI is brilliant. The inputs are much more solid and no missing particularly with input 1. And of course, the super source is lovely to use and easily programmable, as are the 4 outputs. This is a fine switcher which Blackmagic have given a lot of thought into getting right. It works every time and is very stable. I’ve never had to reboot or switch it off and back on again.
It just does what it says on the box….. with SDI.

Excellent Multi-Camera Switcher
The Blackmagic ATEM SDI Extreme ISO is an excellent piece of equipment for multi-camera live production. It offers an impressive combination of professional features, flexibility and reliability in a compact form factor.
The eight SDI inputs make it ideal for multi-camera setups, while the ISO recording feature is particularly valuable for post-production. Being able to record individual camera feeds alongside the program output makes editing and creating highlights much easier.
The built-in streaming capabilities, multiview monitoring, audio mixing and dedicated hardware controls make it a versatile solution for live events, conferences and professional productions.
However, there are a few areas where I believe it could be improved. More advanced built-in audio processing options, such as EQ and compression, would be very useful. An additional HDMI output for monitoring, a small built-in status display, and more flexible recording controls would also make the workflow even better.
Despite these limitations, the ATEM SDI Extreme ISO offers tremendous value for its capabilities. It is a powerful and reliable solution for anyone looking to build a professional multi-camera live production setup.
